About the Tax Credit
As a result of the stimulus bill, homeowners can claim a tax credit of up to $1,500 for upgrading their primary residence with energy efficient appliances and building components, such as windows, doors and skylights. This way, homeowners can reduce their income tax by up to thirty percent of the purchase price (not including installation costs) of qualified products installed in 2009 and 2010.
The tax credit helps you save money on the purchase of windows, doors or skylights, but the real money savings are what you'll save in the long term with reduced energy bills. Upgrading to energy-efficient windows and doors can save home-owners hundreds of dollars in heating and cooling costs each year. And, of course, more efficient windows and doors also substantially enhance comfort, reduce condensation, and help to protect the environment and conserve limited resources.
Simonton Replacement Windows
The premium vinyl used in our windows is an excellent insulator. Its thermal properties are far superior to aluminum, steel and stainless steel. Most windows also feature unique spacer systems. Made of highly thermally prohibitive materials, these are placed between the glass panes and further reduce temperature transfer.

Operable windows feature color-coordinated, easy-to-use lift rails (on hung windows) and pull stiles (on slider windows) that are extruded into the sash for maximum durability over time. A lot of other windows are not extruded and tend to break very easily. |

Gas Fill & Glass Coatings
The space inside an insulating glass unit—between the glass panes—may be filled with Argon gas, an odorless, non-toxic gas that is six times denser than air. This acts as an added barrier for a higher level of efficiency. Our windows and doors are also available with Low E glass. A transparent metallic oxide coating applied to the glass surface allows short-wave energy to pass through but reflects long-wave infrared energy for greater thermal efficiency.
Laminated Safety Glass
Some glass packages contain laminated glass. A transparent interlayer is adhered to a pane of glass, acting as a barrier against energy loss, noise transmission and forced entry.
